George Pickens Joins the Cowboys – Big Move by Steelers Shakes Things Up

There’s a big shake-up in the NFL — George Pickens is no longer with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s now heading to the Dallas Cowboys to team up with Dak Prescott. Yep, you heard it right. The Cowboys have finally found a solid wide receiver to play alongside CeeDee Lamb, and that’s a big win for them.

According to reports, the trade will be official soon. In return, the Steelers are getting a third-round draft pick and a late-round pick swap. Not a bad deal for either side, to be honest.

The Cowboys were looking for a strong No. 2 receiver for a while now. Free agency and the draft came and went, but they still didn’t land anyone solid. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had hinted they weren’t done yet — and now, here we are.

With Pickens joining the team, Dallas gets a deep-threat receiver who can make those tough catches. He’ll now line up right after Lamb and ahead of guys like Jalen Tolbert, who couldn’t quite lock down the No. 2 role last season.

As for the Steelers, it’s clear they’re rebuilding. They’ve already lost their top running back (Najee Harris, now with the Chargers) and their quarterback Russell Wilson (now with the Giants). And now, with Pickens gone too, their offense is going through a full reset.

Pickens was picked in the second round of the 2022 draft and showed a lot of promise, even though some teams passed on him because of injury history and attitude concerns. In three seasons with Pittsburgh, he caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns. Last year, he averaged over 18 yards per catch — best in the league — but struggled a bit in 2024 due to injuries and an inconsistent offense.

Now, he’s entering the final year of his rookie contract and has a lot to prove — he’ll earn $3.65 million this season.

New Helmets Coming for Steelers, Chargers and More

Now let’s talk about something fun — new helmets! The NFL changed its rules in 2022 to let teams use alternate helmets with their special uniforms, and now even more teams are joining in.

For the 2025 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers will finally roll out new alternate helmets. It’s been a long time coming. These teams didn’t take part when the rule first changed, but that’s about to change this summer.

They’re not alone, though. The Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, and New Orleans Saints are also dropping new helmet looks in 2025. Some of these teams already have one alternate helmet — like the Browns’ white one for their throwback uniforms and the Saints’ black one — but now they’ll have a second one.

Meanwhile, a few teams still haven’t done much with this rule, like the Bills, Chiefs, Raiders, Dolphins, Rams, and 49ers. Some of them just change logos or stickers on their existing helmets but don’t go for a full design switch.

The new designs haven’t been leaked yet, but they’re expected to drop sometime in July. Should be exciting to see what they look like!
