India attack Pakistan: India Strikes Back, Destroys 9 Terror Camps in Pakistan and PoJK

New Delhi, May 7, 2025 — In a bold and focused military response to rising cross-border terrorism, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

According to an official government statement, nine terror camps linked to proscribed groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen were struck with precision-guided missiles. The Ministry of Defence clarified that no Pakistani military sites were targeted during the operation.

The strikes came in retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali national. The attacks were executed at 1:44 a.m., focusing on terror strongholds such as Muridke and Bahawalpur, long known for sheltering extremist outfits.

“This operation was calibrated and non-escalatory in nature. India has acted with restraint and precision, targeting only those structures used for planning terror against the Indian state,” said the Defence Ministry in its official communication.

Soon after the Indian strikes, Pakistani forces launched heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), hitting several forward villages in Poonch and Rajouri districts, including Krishna Ghati, Shahpur, Mankote, Laam, and Manjakote.

Back home, the Indian government ramped up civil defence preparedness across 244 districts. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level review on mock drills, bunker readiness, and civilian safety training in case of a hostile counterattack.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council took up the rising India-Pakistan tensions in closed-door consultations. Although no formal statement was issued, Pakistan claimed its objectives were “largely served” by the discussion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern warning, stating:

“Those behind this barbaric attack will be hunted down and punished — even if it means chasing them to the ends of the Earth.”

India’s message is clear: the era of silent tolerance toward cross-border terrorism is over, and those responsible will face the full weight of accountability.
